This week’s Garage Member Spotlight is Kristin McKenna Crowe! Kristin was nominated by a lot of people including Lauren Hughes and Jessica Osborne.
Name: Kristin Crowe
Tell us about yourself. Where are you from and how did you get here? I spent most of my formative years in Dunwoody. After graduating from UGA, I spent a year in Los Angeles and from there bought a home in Woodstock – a lesson in extremes if there ever was one. Two years ago, my husband and I moved to Marietta to live in sin before our wedding in March of 2015. We still live there now with our two dogs – Holmes and Penny.
How long have you been a member at The Garage? About 3.5 years
How did you find The Garage? Two friends found one of those Living Social or Groupon deals and asked me to try it with them. I agreed and never looked back. (neither friend stuck with it)
What do you like about working out at The Garage? 5am WOD Squad is the best part of The Garage. They are my people and make it possible to get through the day with a smile on my face. As an added bonus, the programming is awesome and the coaches keep me from losing a limb or breaking my neck with added encouragement.
What do you do for a living? I’m a consultant for a software company. If you know me, you are likely shocked I work in a form of customer service. But it’s true; I do.
What are your hobbies and interests? Outside of CrossFit, I love baseball and college football. My husband and I love to travel when we can and if we can find a dog sitter.
What is something interesting about you most people don’t know? A lot of people may already know but I have two award winning cupcake recipes. I also have 20 first cousins and am addicted to lip balm
Favorite food(s)? I love all food but especially ice cream. And dessert. And coffee.
Favorite music to workout to? Whatever comes on Joe C’s iPod. Not having to pick music or wear headphones are two of the reasons I love CrossFit
Favorite WOD, lift or skill? Double unders, hang power cleans, and handstand push ups
WOD, lift or skill you never ever want to do again? Overhead squats
What’s your proudest CrossFit achievement to date? My very first pull-up after months of coaching by Tim. Second would be stringing 50 double unders together.
What’s on your bucket list? Or what are some goals you are trying to accomplish? (either at the gym or otherwise) In the gym, I’m hoping to find the ever allusive butterfly pull up, legit dips, and a 200# back squat. In life, travel more and one day own enough land to have a pack of dogs and build our dream house
Anything else you want to include? If you haven’t tried it yet, join the Squad at 5:15am
If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Tim Russert. I wish he was still around to commentate on the Presidential elections. I’d love to get his perspective.
If you were trapped on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you? hmmmm…. my husband (hopefully he comes prepared with things like a knife and his fish catching abilities), water filter, and Wilson.
