Spotlight: Pete !
Pete found The Garage three years ago by pure random luck. He was looking for a box with early classes and a location near his house. The Garage fit both categories. He comes to the 5:15am class. He has always been active, but never considered himself “In Shape”. He would go to a typical gym and do the normal gym routine but he became bored. He took a chance walking into The Garage and is very glad he did. Originally from Chicago, Pete attend Clemson University and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He’s been married to Kelly for 16 years. They have to 2 active boys, Ryan (10) and Kyle (5). Kyle is a passionate soccer player and Ryan plays basketball and is a runner.
What do you like about working out here?
How the coaches work within your skill-set and don’t force you too far out of your comfort zone, until they know you are ready. You might have not known you were ready but they did. Additionally, working out at the 5:15am class is a treat by itself. The hardest thing to do is waking up, but once your there your glad you came.
What do you do for a living?
Public Works Director for the City of Alpharetta; feel free to blame me for all of the traffic issues – everyone else does.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Woodworking; Cooking, and grilling/smoking on my Big Green Egg.
What is something interesting about you most people don’t know?
I am an Eagle Scout.
Favorite food(s)? Chicago style pizza, steak, and dark chocolate

Favorite WOD, lift or skill? Anything involving bodyweight and running
WOD, Lift or skill you never ever want to do again? Pistols
What’s your proudest CrossFit achievement to date? Learning to Kip. It took me way too long to learn.
What’s on your bucket list? Successfully finishing Run Disney’s Dopey Challenge. In 4 consecutive days run a 5k, 10k, ½ marathon, and a full marathon.
If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why? John Wooden; Not only was he a great coach but an incredible leader. To gain an understanding how he was able to motivate his teams not to become complacent and win championship after championship.
If you were trapped on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you? Knife, cup, and magnifying glass.
Anything else you want to include? To all of you in 5:15 am class, thanks for all of the motivation and encouragement over the years. Where else can one go workout and have to bring their ‘A-game’ with smart-alecky comments. I am blessed to have found such a great group and I can’t imagine going to another Box or a different class
