Snatch/Clean&Jerk/FrontSquat – Tuesday, January 8, 2013
You will have 15 minutes to find a 1rm in the Snatch, Clean&Jerk, and Front Squat.
-Your score will be the highest weight successfully lifted in each lift.
-You may spend as much or as little time on each movement.
-You may use a rack for front squat.
-You may go back to an exercise after moving to the next.
C&J 53,FS 73, Snatch 43.
Front squat: 180 (PR)
Clean and jerk: 143
snatch: 93
I think I blew all my energy on the FS. By the time I got to snatch, my form was out the window!
It was interesting to do these 1 rep max under the time constraint. It is easier to hit a PR in Barbell Club when you have an hour to work up to it. Doing it in 5 minutes is a whole ‘nother thing!

Snatch – 155# (failed at 175#)
Clean and Jerk – 225#
Front Squat – 315#
Total = 695#
None of these are PRs. Apparently I can’t take the pressure of the clock running and my form gets all jacked up. I power snatched and power cleaned both of the lifts. I’m sure I could have gone higher if the clock wasn’t tick tick ticking away!!!!

I should have started with the snatch and ended with the Front Squat so I didn’t do as well as I wanted too.
Snatch – 95#
Clean & Jerk – 130# tried to go for 135# but I wouldn’t have had time to get a snatch in
Front Squat- 181# which was a PR. Spent way too much time to get a PR
BUT I got one.
Goal #2 for 2013- 200# Front Squat!
Snatch – 75#

Elbow bothering me a bit. So did 5×5 backsquat with 3 second pause at bottom. Went up to 295.
FS: 250#
CJ: 175#
Went for the Front Squat today. I have hit a 5-rep PR and 2-rep PR on it recently. I did 250 with relative ease, but failed 2x @ 260#. I couldn’t keep my ‘shelf’ up. I’m positive my legs can do more on FS. I read some tips online for Front Squat. 2 things: Open hands– let bar rest on shoulder shelf (I was holding on with hands). Squeeze elbows together when holding bar….worth a try. May need to work on some core strength too.
