Moving a weight from the floor to overhead requires explosive strength (power) and flawless technique to achieve true max loads.Â Pulling from the floor with all the upward momentum possible, to immediately reverse your momentum to get underneath the bar as fast as possible allows you to catch the load.Â Generating upward thrust again to push yourself down under the bar allows you to lock it overhead.Â Enjoy some footage of one of the true greats in this sport, Pyrros Dimas (weighs under 183lbs, and lifts over 440 lbs in these videos):
