I was the kid who avoided PE and ANY physical activity at all cost. Literally- I hated exercise. This was largely due to the fact that I had severe asthma, and couldn’t exercise without an inhaler on hand. I faked injuries to get out of PE, and somehow managed to make it through middle and high school taking only one semester of PE. I not only hated being active, but I also associated it with pain and fear of an asthma attack.

After the birth of my daughter in 2013, I quickly realized that I would have to figure something out to help myself get healthy and improve my fitness.
I started crossfit when my daughter was 9 months old, and the asthma was still there. However, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY when members in the class- who I didn’t even know- offered to push my daughter in the stroller during a run in a workout when they saw me struggling. The community pushed me through my asthma and with consistent work, I haven’t had an asthma attack or have needed to use an inhaler for over 3 years.
